Pillowcase Dress Model

I have been making several pillowcase dresses and shipping
them here and there, but I never get to see anyone
wearing them.

Heather from North Carolina owns a Boutique and
I have made several dresses for her. She sent me some
pictures of her daughter wearing one of my dresses.

Isn't she just adorable!

And I thought this dress was ugly...
(I'm sooo not a sports fan!)

Well, I still think that...but Nala Grace makes it
look super cute doesn't she!

Have you ever wondered...

just how much change it would
take to stop up your washing machine pump?

Me neither...
but I found out today that it takes atleast $6.34!

And the worst part....
It cost me $75 to get the $6.34 out!

So ladies, be sure to check your pockets ;o}
Or better yet...the pockets of those boys kiddos!

Honestly...I was shocked that there wasn't a
frog or two caught up in there with all of
that change :)

(Oh yeah, there were about 15 pellets from a pellet gun in
there too!)

Who Would've Thought...

I've Been Inspired!
Ever since I met my blog friend Jen I
have looked at things a little differently. Before...I would
have totally skipped over these lime green placemats (which
were on clearance for $1.50 for 4) simply because
they don't match my kitchen.

...but they do match Kayla's newly painted lime green bedroom!
So...I repurposed the placemats and made this cute pillow
for Kayla's bed.

I may make a few more with the other 6 (I bought extras ;o})...
I haven't decided ;o}

So far....I have repurposed a ladies skirt into a dress for
Kayla and another skirt into a bible cover.

Who would have thought repurposing would be
so much fun!

Happy 15th Birthday Ethan!

Yesterday was Ethan's birthday!
I'm a little behind ;o}
He is 15!
So, now until October 12th I have two 15
year olds in the house!

Ethan was a terrible baby for the first few months...he had colic
and cried from about 3 p.m. til he fell asleep that night.
When he finally got over the colic he was the perfect baby...

He had a head full of black hair and was so tan...he
looked like a little Mexican baby ;o} He was sooo cute!
He was 7 days old here...

His nickname was Bubbalicious...it started out as Bubba...
But I hated that, when I think of the name Bubba...my mind
always went to an old, toothless, fat man in bib overalls, with no
shirt and tobacco juice running down his chin. Gross huh?
But the nickname Bubba stuck....

He has always been the comedian of the family. When he
was little he could never stand for anyone to be upset. If they
were, he made it his personal job to cheer them up.

When he was 3 he fell and knocked out his four front
teeth ;o} It took them forever to grow back in! But boy
was he cute with out them!
He was always so sweet! He loved finding things...even if
they weren't lost...he would hold them behind his back and
say, "Mommy, did you lose something?" when I said yes he
would pull it out from behind him and with a big toothless grin
he'd say, "I found this for you."
He hated his picture made by anyone other than mommy...he
would usually cry or give a fake grin when I wasn't
behind the camera. (like this)
The first sport he played was baseball. During his first game
he was playing with the dirt in the field...taking his shoes and
building little piles out of the dirt. The boy that was running the
bases tripped over his little piles and Ethan got him out. ;o}
Who would have thought playing with the dirt would
have payed off. ;o}
These next two pictures pretty much describe Ethan's personality.
He loves to have fun! He isn't afraid of anything....
ANYTHING, and he will never back down to a challenge.
(right Courtney? ;o})
He's very curious and hates to have boundaries....
He would do anything to help you out and even give you
the shirt off his back if you asked for it.
I can't wait to see what God has in store for Ethan...
I love you Bubbalicious!
Hope you had a great birthday

A Special Trip

Sometimes you just need a change of scenery...or atleast I do.
Since hubby is still gone I decided to go to Kentucky and
spend the day with my older brother, Brian and his son Ashton...
who stayed home from school so he could visit who was very
sick and just couldn't make it to school. ;o}

It was a rare treat, since usually the only time I get to see Brian
is when someone either gets married, a funeral, or Holidays...

It's sad really...the kids just adore him and so do I...he works
way too much and our schedules never seem to match up.
He took us to Land Between the Lakes and we spent the day
sight seeing, and catching up....we even went to an old cemetery.
I love to walk through old cemeteries...is that wierd?

Here are Kayla and Brian posing behind an Ox...well, not actually
posing...because Brian absolutely HATES his picture being
made (must run in the fam~I make absolutely the worst
pictures ever) I took these with my phone, but I think
they actually turned out pretty good!

I Just couldn't resist...this picture. I wish there was such a thing
as a camera that captured smell...ha HA! (P U)
Did you know that if you twist a pig's ear really hard it will squeal?
~Duh~I would too! Not gonna tell ya who exactly did the ear
twisting...but it wasn't me...or one of my kids...or my nephew. ;o}

Okay...let me tell you..there are 3 things that scare me to
death...I mean really, really scare me.
#1 Spiders #2 choking #3 Heights...in no particular order.

My brother wanted to show me the old fire tower that the kids
have climbed every summer when they are with uncle Brian.
(I really should have seen what was coming)

I'm proud to say....I climbed it! ALL of it...to the very top!
This picture doesn't really do it justice...(it starts at the bottom
of the photo...it's just too dark to see.)
Okay...maybe it took me forever...and maybe my legs are
absolutely killing me today from walking so far up while
every muscle in my body was tensed to the max....and maybe
I yelled at the kids (and Brian) all the way up and down
to stop shaking the tower...(yeah, it wiggled -
all of it - every time someone moved or when the
wind blew!) Plus, he forgot to mention that it was really
OLD and some of the boards were missing AND the ones
 that were still there were all loose!

But hey, I did it!
I guess your wondering why...I don't really know. What I
do know, is that I will never, ever do it again! I guess part
of me still wants to prove to my big, strong, older brother
that I'm not a sissy.

This is on the way home...I'm so happy not to be splattered
all over Land Between Lakes state park.

I didn't get any pictures of the boys...but they had a great time.
They tried to provoke the ox into chasing them...(I won't tell you
how) ;o} They chased the roosters...tried to scare me to death on the
fire tower (it worked)...AND tried to talk Uncle Brian into walking
across the access cable under the bridge...(which Brian has done
before and I can't believe we didn't do) So, I guess I spent most
of my time around them praying they wouldn't get killed ;o}

BOYS! I could write a book!

We had a great day! I hope to do it again really soon!
(~just not the fire tower part~)
