~Sewing Accidents~

I have been sewing A LOT the last few days..these two are
my newest pillowcase dresses...

This one is my best seller...I have a zebra print that is quickly
catching up with it...but I think I like the ploka dots the best.

I have been sewing for a looong time. I have been poked by pins,
stabbed myself with needles and I can't count on all ten fingers
and toes how many times I've dropped a needle and
stepped on it ;o}

I admit that I may have been in a little bit of a hurry...
...but yesterday I did something I HAVE NEVER done before!

I HIT MY FINGER!
For some reason the safety didn't kick in and stop the machine..
It went through my nail, bent and then broke off leaving a piece of
needle over 1/3 inch long stuck inside the tip of my finger~which
really isn't that long...I admit...but it might as well have been a nail
as bad as it was hurting...and I have a high pain tolerance...I
would never have imagined that would've hurt as bad as it did.

I couldn't even see it...it was all inside my finger! After
searching every where for the tip of the needle, I decided to look
in my finger & that's when I noticed something silver just
under the skin on the side.

My hubby (who is so very squimish when it comes to blood) came
to my rescue. He pulled it out with a pair of nail clippers. Which was
very painful...He had to pull it out by the tip and since the
needle gets bigger from tip to top it was like he was trying
to pull a 2 x 4 out. ;o} I cried like a baby...I think I even
begged him to stop a few times...

Looking back, it's kind of funny...Picture me sitting on the bathroom
sink with tears streaming down my face (it really hurt!) while hubby is
standing over me all broke out in a sweat trying to pull it out. I
can't believe he did it! He can't stand to see others in pain and he
usually runs the other direction when something happens ;o}

Seriously~He passed out when I was in labor with our
first~not once~but TWICE! Once during the epidural and again
when they asked him to cut the cord ;o}

But this time~He was truly my knight in shining armor!
Thank you Hunny!

I didn't get any during pictues~It's hard to remember to take
pictures when you are in excruiating pain....but here is a picture
of the needle tip lying ontop of my nail...just to show you how
far it was in. It's not a good picture, but you can see a scratch just
behind the needle where it broke through my nail.

Today my finger is a little sore..and pretty much only hurts
if you touch it. So, not much sewing for me today ;o}

~Watch Night Service~

I'm a little behind on posting pictures...
but I guess late is better than never...right? ;o}
These pictures are from Watch Night Service on New Year's Eve.
Since we are still not in our building, we had the opportunity to go
to Arkansas to Bro. Kenny Guy's church.

Kayla with some friends...

One of the speakers...he painted a picture for the kiddos..
Afterwards Kayla won the picture in a drawing.

My hubby with Bro. John and Phillip Jenkins...

Hubby will always be my favorite preacher ;o}

New Year's day we joined some friends for a Japanese lunch...
Fuji's is not my favorite Japanese restaurant...but it was still a lot of fun.

I hope everyone is having a great 2010 so far!

~Numbers Don't Lie~

My mother forwarded this to me...thought I'd share it with ya...

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul,
Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning last November's
Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19    McCain: 29

Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000    McCain: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million

McCain: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Obama: 13.2     McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain
won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low
income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already
having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye
to the USA in fewer than five years.

~Church Youth Christmas Party~

Although there were bruises, scrapes, a broke toe and a few
that claim they passed out...I think the youth had a great
time at their Christmas party.
The boys (and some of the girls) wrestled the whole time...
some (like me) decided it would be much safer to just watch.

Here's the jousting ring...there really wasn't much jousting
going on...mostly wrestling ;o}

Ethan and Tyler ~ both trying not to be the first to tap out...
Check out Ethan's socks! Isn't that hilarious!

Dalton & Jeremy on the Bungee Run...

I know this picture quality is not very good...(I had it on the wrong
setting) but I still think it's a good shot. Notice the look on
Bro. John's face ;o}

Bro. Brian holding Tyler down...

Brandon & MacKenzie just couldn't resist tag teaming Rusty!

Courtney & Megan on the Bungee Run...

We are gonna have to invest in a few of these jousting rings when
(IF lol) we get into our new building!

I don't know who had more fun...the youth or the big kids (the men).
